What to Expect

1. You are picked up 10 to 45 minutes before the lesson at one of four Waikiki stops, or you walk to the Ohana Surf Center inside the Waikiki Beach Marriott's tour-bus entrance off Paoakalani Avenue, arriving 20 minutes early.
2. Check-in and gearing up take 10 to 15 minutes: you sign the waiver, get a rash guard and reef shoes, and lock your belongings in storage.
3. Instructors run a safety briefing and beach instruction on paddling, kicking with fins and catching whitewater before you enter the water.
4. You spend the bulk of the session in the water catching waves with an instructor, with coaching adjusted to each guest's level; tandem lessons are available for small children.
5. After the lesson you return to the shop, where you can view and optionally buy photos and footage before the shuttle drops you back in Waikiki.
