The Complete Island Adventure with Sunrise is a 10-hour Oahu sunrise photo tour in a 7-guest van starting an hour before dawn at Sandy Beach and running via Makapuu, the Pali, Byodo-In Temple and the North Shore to Haleiwa, for $170. It suits photographers wanting first light and a full loop; drawbacks are a pre-dawn pickup and meals paid extra.
Highlights
Eleven stops across 10 hours, beginning with up to an hour at Sandy Beach for sunrise and ending in Haleiwa town on the North Shore
$170 per adult, $120 per child and $160 for military and kamaaina in October 2026, $70 more than the operator's 5-hour tour
Byodo-In Temple admission and one Leonard's Bakery malasada included; breakfast at Kalapawai Market, Kahuku fruit stands and lunch in Haleiwa are paid by guests
Maximum 7 guests, Waikiki hotel pickup from 19 locations; group departures Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

What to Expect
Get picked up in Waikiki about an hour before sunrise, which means a 5:00–6:00 am pickup for most of the year, in a van with no more than 7 guests.
Spend up to an hour at Sandy Beach shooting the sunrise, then stop at Makapuu Lookout for the lighthouse and offshore islands.
Buy breakfast at Kalapawai Market in Kailua, then cross to Nuuanu Pali Lookout and pick up the included malasada at Leonard's Bakery.
Visit Byodo-In Temple with admission included, then Kualoa Beach Park for the Chinaman's Hat view.
Continue up the windward coast with a stop at the Kahuku fruit trucks and Kawela Bay, then North Shore beaches for turtle viewing.
Finish with time in Haleiwa town, where lunch is at your own expense, and return to Waikiki about 10 hours after the start.

What the Reviews Say
We read 6 operator-level reviews of Oahu Photography Tours: 5 Google reviews dated December 2025 to June 2026 shown on Wanderlog and 1 Greetwell review from August 2026, all 5 stars; 2 mention a sunrise or full-day tour. Platform totals below are as of October 2026.
What Reviewers Praise
Guides' island knowledge on the full-day loop(4 of 6 reviews we read)
Four reviewers credit their guide with detailed knowledge of the island, and the one full-day reviewer recommended taking the tour early in a trip to get oriented.
— Google, 5★, March 2026: a guest on the full-day waterfall version found the guide knowledgeable and kind and suggested booking it at the start of a vacation.
Useful phone photography coaching(3 of 6 reviews we read)
Three reviews say the tips improved their own photos; one guest took both the sunrise tour and the evening light-painting tour and praised the iPhone guidance on each.
— Google, 5★, March 2026: the reviewer did the sunrise tour and a sunset light-painting tour with different guides and found the iPhone tips helpful on both.
What Reviewers Complain About
Weather can undercut the sunrise(1 report · outside operator's control · most recent: January 2026)
The only critical note in the 6 reviews we read is a cloudy, windy January 2026 morning; the guest still gave 5 stars. On a 10-hour tour built around first light, an overcast dawn is the main risk, and the operator's weather policy did not load on its FAQ page.
— Google, 5★, January 2026: grey and windy conditions, but the guide kept the group engaged.
About the Operator in General
Oahu Photography Tours shows 5.0 on Google from 1,583 reviews as of October 2026, with only 6 ratings of 3 stars or lower, and its full-day waterfall tour listing on Viator shows 171 reviews at the top score. The operator says it has carried more than 20,000 guests.
Our Verdict
Tripreviewall's Take
For $170 this is one of the few Oahu circle-island tours capped at 7 guests, and starting before dawn buys you Sandy Beach and Makapuu without crowds, so it is worth it for anyone who cares about light. The cost of that is a 5:00–6:00 am pickup and paying for your own meals on top of the ticket. If you are not a morning person, the operator's $180 waterfall version starts later and has 171 Viator reviews at the top score.

Skip This Tour If…
A pre-dawn pickup will ruin the day for you or your children

Your dates might shift inside the 72-hour cancellation window
Tips From Reviewers and Operator Notes
Bring a light jacket; the operator says the beach is cold at sunrise even though it advises shorts for the rest of the day
Carry cash for coffee at Kalapawai Market right after sunrise and for the Kahuku fruit trucks
Book early in your trip, as one March 2026 reviewer advised, so you can return to favorite spots
Group departures skip Tuesday and Thursday; private tours fill those days at a quoted price
