Overview

The Waikiki BYOB sunset cruise by Living Ocean Tours is a 90-minute evening trip from Kewalo Basin on a 40-guest double-decker boat where you bring your own drinks and the crew supplies ice, snacks and soft drinks. It suits budget-minded groups. The biggest drawback: prices range from $54 to $83 by reseller, and cheaper fares are non-refundable.

Highlights

  • 90-minute sunset cruise along the Waikiki coast with the city lights on the return; check-in 4:45 PM, departure 5:00 PM, back by 6:30 PM on the VELTRA schedule (October 2026).
  • Bring your own alcohol in cans, plastic or metal; glass is not allowed and drinkers need photo ID (VELTRA and Greetwell listings).
  • Juices, sodas, water, light snacks and a cooler with ice are included; the boat has a toilet and carries up to 40 guests (Greetwell).
  • Price from $53.78 adult and $49.47 child (5-12) on VELTRA; Greetwell lists $71.34 non-refundable or $82.92 refundable for ages 3+.
  • Rated 5.0 from 7 reviews on VELTRA as of October 2026.

What to Expect

  1. You arrive at Pier B, Kewalo Basin Boat Harbor, 30 minutes before departure with your drinks already decanted out of glass; paid parking is in the harbor lot.
  2. The crew checks IDs for anyone drinking, gives a safety briefing and loads your drinks into the cooler with ice.
  3. The boat leaves around 5:00 PM and motors along Waikiki toward Diamond Head as the sun sets over the ocean.
  4. Snacks, sodas and water are served on board while you watch the sunset from the upper deck or the bow.
  5. On the return leg the crew stays near the coast for the Honolulu city lights, and the boat is back in the harbor about 90 minutes after departure.
