It suits confident swimmers who want to set their own route. The drawback is that you carry the kayak to the beach and the Mokulua crossing is unguided.

What to Expect

1. Check in at the shop at 130 Kailua Road (opens 8 am), watch a video briefing and get route recommendations from staff; setup takes 8 to 12 minutes.
2. You load the kayak on a beach cart and walk it 5 to 10 minutes to Kailua Beach.
3. You choose your own route: Popoia (Flat) Island is the short option, Moku Nui in the Mokulua Islands is the longer open-water crossing, about 1 hour each way on the operator's guided-tour listings.
4. Snorkel with the included set, land on the islands with your permit, and return when you like; the operator recommends at least 4 hours and lists the product as 5 hours.
5. Back at the shop you can use the bikes, lockers, showers and beach gear for the rest of the day.

Cancellation Policy

Cancel more than 48 hours before the activity for a 100% refund, with free unlimited rescheduling. Within 48 hours a cancellation is charged in full; rescheduling costs $25 per person each time (waived with Trip Protection) and rescheduled bookings are no longer refundable.
