What to Expect

1. You check in at the Dive Maui shop at 1223 Front Street at 6:30 AM and get fitted for any rental gear.
2. The raft leaves Mala Ramp around 6:45 AM for a crossing of about 45 minutes to Lanai, stopping if dolphins or whales appear.
3. The captain picks the two sites on the day; the first is normally First or Second Cathedral, a lava cavern about 55 feet deep lit through openings in the ceiling.
4. After a briefing you make a first dive of up to 60 minutes to roughly 50–75 feet depending on your air.
5. A surface interval follows with snacks, water and hot tea; you can bring your own lunch.
6. The second dive runs up to an hour at roughly 50–70 feet on another Lanai reef.
7. You return to Mala Wharf, break down gear and review what you saw; the whole trip is about 6 hours.
