What to Expect

1. Meet the Volcano Ohana guide at the Hilo cruise port for the 8:00 AM or 10:45 AM pickup; the van leaves 15 minutes later for the roughly 45-minute drive up to the park at about 4,000 ft.
2. At the park you are fitted with a fat-tire e-bike and helmet and given instruction on the motor and brakes; the operator does not teach people to ride.
3. You ride park roads and trails behind the guide, who explains the volcanic geology; the operator's 3-hour park tour visits the Thurston Lava Tube, Kilauea overlooks and the Volcano House viewpoint, and the cruise version describes the same top sites.
