What to Expect

3. After a safety talk, you paddle about a mile across the bay toward the Captain Cook Monument while the guide points out Hikiau heiau and cliff burial sites.
4. You land at Kaʻawaloa, walk to the monument and hear the history of Cook's 1779 death at this spot.
5. You snorkel the reef in front of the monument; the Hawaii Magazine writer reported about 50 feet of visibility and a moray eel.
6. Lunch is served at the landing, followed by a second snorkel if time allows.
7. You paddle back along the coast as the morning tour boats arrive, then return the gear and drive back.
