Overview

The Hawaii Nautical Kona private yacht charter rents the operator’s 6-guest sailing catamaran from Honokohau Harbor for a custom morning of snorkeling, wildlife watching and sailing, with gear and soft drinks included and BYOB allowed. It suits groups of 4 to 6 who want the boat alone. The drawback: resellers list it at 3, 5 and 6 hours.

Highlights

  • Whole boat for up to 6 guests, with snorkel site, pace and activities chosen with the captain on the day (Greetwell listing).
  • Snorkel masks, fins, vests, in-water crew help, soft drinks, private changing areas, restrooms and fresh-water showers included.
  • BYOB with no corkage fee; lunch is available for an extra charge on the VELTRA private packages.
  • Departs Hawaii Nautical's Outer Basin slip 38 at Honokohau Harbor; a 6-hour upgrade reaches Kealakekua Bay and the Captain Cook Monument.
  • Operator's Kona charters show a 4.9 Google rating from 666 reviews on Greetwell as of October 2026.

What to Expect

  1. You arrive 20 minutes before departure at Outer Basin slip 38, Honokohau Harbor, with waivers completed online the day before.
  2. The captain discusses your preferences: snorkeling, sailing, wildlife viewing or relaxing on deck, and picks a snorkel site for the conditions.
  3. The catamaran heads along the Kona coast, where dolphins and turtles are listed as year-round and humpback whales possible December through April.
  4. The crew fits gear and assists in the water at the chosen bay; on the 6-hour option the boat continues to Kealakekua Bay.
  5. Soft drinks, juice and water are served; you may bring your own alcohol and, on VELTRA packages, order lunch for a fee.
  6. You rinse off and change on board, then return to the harbor after 3, 5 or 6 hours depending on the package booked.
